PURPOSE:
The purpose of this study is to take various eye measurements on healthy individuals
identifying with African American ethnicity to determine what normal values are for this
racial group. This may help us understand the normal changes that occur in the eye
between different races and may assist in earlier diagnosis of some eye disorders.
WHAT IS REQUIRED:
A two hour office visit to the Department of Ophthalmology in Cramblett Medical Clinic at the OSU Medical Center is required to participate in this study. Nine different measurements will be taken on one eye of each participant.
WHAT YOU WILL RECEIVE:
Each participant will be compensated $20 plus the cost of
parking for their time.
ELIGIBILITY:
Participants who are eligible must be African American, at least
20 years of age, and have not been diagnosed with any type of
ocular disorder or had any kind of eye surgery. Individuals who
have been diagnosed with diabetes, hypertension, or who are
currently pregnant are not eligible to participate.
